| Throughout each of our lives there are people that have made some sort of influence on us that we don’t understand what they were until later in life. For instance like most boys 4 and 5 years old seeing trains rolls around the floor at Christmas time puts a smile on our face. As a child I had the opportunity to watch my uncle work on his railroad empire all year long. This is where my passion for railroading took place. He had a layout in his basement that rivaled all others that I knew of at the time. There were working steam engines. Gates lifted up and down on the street as the trains passed by and people skating on pond’s of ice. There had been a hobby shop not far from his home that he would take me to on weekends. Here I would literally spend hours watching the trains rolling through the tunnels and running quickly to the other side of the layout in an effort to see them come chugging by. Then came my love for fishing when I was given my first fishing rod. It was a bamboo fly rod and at the time I had no idea of what fly-fishing was or how to use one. A family friend was cleaning out his basement and gave it to me. I can remember being so happy with it even though it appeared antiquated and useless. Although he never took me fishing and the sad thing is that I no longer have that rod, I enjoy the time I can get out and wet a line whenever possible. It is that rear occurrence that I don’t think of him and how he molded my life without realizing what he was doing. Then came animal rescue which I have been very passionate about for a good number of years. There are plenty of wonderful rescues that take in all kinds of animals from guinea pigs to horses to cats and dogs. They would be to numerous for me to list all of them here on this site. If there is a particular breed of dog or cat that you may be looking for you can find them on such places as Petfinder (www.petfinder.com) or you can Google sites in your immediate vicinity to bring a loving pet into your home. As I mentioned before these organizations are made up entirely of folks who volunteer their time to prepare these pets for their forever homes. Please view the LINKS on the left side of this page or the EVENTS pages here on my site for just a few of the wonderful rescues that can help you find that special pet. I would really appreciate that you take the time and view this site. If there is anything that you like or dislike please email me |

| The Dog’s 11 Prayers 1. My life could last 10-15 years, and every time I am away from you I suffer a little. Think of this before adopting me. 2. Neuter me. Millions of dogs are unwanted every year, and every newborn puppy keeps a dog in… a shelter, or causes one to be put to sleep. 3. Be patient with me, give me the time to understand what you would like me to do. Most people only understand one language, I am expected to know 2: the human and the canine. 4. Trust me, because you’re my whole world. 5. Don’t be cross with me for too long when I make a mistake: you have your work, your friends and your fun, I have only you. 6. Talk to me. Even if I don’t understand the words, I love listening to you and getting to know your voice among all others! 7. Know that I will always forgive you, but I will never forget and whatever you do to me will mark me forever. 8. Before thinking of beating me, remember that I could bite back if I wanted to, but I would never choose to do so. 9. Before telling me off for being stubborn, lazy or slow, ask yourself if anything is wrong with me; maybe the food you are giving me is not appropriate, I’ve been too long in the sun or I’m simply getting older. 10. Please take care of me when I get older. You will too one day, and you will need someone to take care of you. 11. When the day will come for my last journey, please be near me. Don’t say that you can’t stand to see me die, don’t let me face that scary last moment alone. With you by my side I will feel safe, and it will be easier for me to say goodbye to you, knowing that you love me and that you are doing the best by me, as I have always done for you. |
